In association with J K Tyres,
the Foundation has started a Family Welfare and Population
Development Project, “PARIVARTAN” in
60 villages of Rajsamand Block in Rajasthan, for a period
of five years covering a population of around hundred thousand
people. The main objectives of the project are:
|
| |
|
Capacity
building of community level volunteers on health issues including
Reproductive and Child Health. |
|
Raising awareness and knowledge of the community stakeholders
on general health and RCH issues through IEC (Information,
Education and Communication) and BCC (Behavioural Change
Communication) programmes. |
|
Providing
basic quality RCH services in the target area through a mobile
van. |
| |
After the MoU was signed with the agency, the project staff
were recruited and trained on health including RCH issues.
Government officials have been informed of the project and
its objectives.
|
| |
| A six-day training (second round) on Safe Motherhood was conducted for the project
staff at Action Research and Training for Health (ARTH), Udaipur. Thirty two
out of sixty villages are covered in the first phase and the rest will be covered
in the second phase through the services of the mobile van.
|
| |
| Panchayat Coordinators and Village
Level Motivators have been recruited in 32 villages and a one-day
orientation about the project was given to them. The project
medical officer and nurses have been trained on RCH services
and quality of care. The newly elected Panchayati Raj representatives
were sensitized about the project. The training was conducted
in three batches. Linkages have been established for joint
meetings with the Primary Health Centre/Sub-centre staff in
the project area. |
| |
Door to door visits have
been made during the days of medical camps to create awareness
of the services that are available in the communities. Antenatal
cards have been developed, printed and used for all ANC cases.
Procurement of material and medicines for free supplies like
vaccine and contraceptives was made by the Chief Medical
Health Officer (CMHO) of the district and other essential
medicines were purchased from outside. |
