PFI Library is a computerized library on Demography and related subjects with an excellent collection of books, journals, documents, films,etc. The bibliographic details of the documents are available in the library software “CDS/ISIS” and its window based version “WINISIS” developed by UNESCO.
The library has approximately 7000 books on Population , Population Policy , Women and Development, Family Planning, Contraceptives, Reproductive & Child Health, Adolescents , HIV/AIDS, Female Foeticide, Panchayati Raj, Demography & Health and important census publications, etc.
Currently, 75 journals, bulletins, magazines are received on subscription/gratis. The collection of some important bound journals like Demography, Population &Development Review, Economic & Political weekly, Population Studies, Seminar, Asia Pacific Journal, etc are available since the mid 1970s .
There are approximately 150 films and video coverage on population related issues. They are stored in a separate data base for quick retrieval and dissemination.
The popular national dailies (English) are subscribed to and a compiled monthly press clipping document is prepared by the library on selective topics.
